Plovdiv, Bulgaria

I am in Plovdiv, Bulgaria for a short visit. Plovdiv is located in southern Bulgaria. The Maritza River runs through it just north of the city center.

I traveled by train from Sofia to Plovidiv, which was about 2-1/2 hours. From the station I walked along Bulevard Ivan Vasov to the Central Square. There is a pedestrian-only street called ulitza Knyaz Alexander which has all kinds of shops and restaurents.

It has been said that Plovdiv has the most beautiful girls in all of Bulgaria. There may be some truth to this because we observed dozens of nicely dressed girls out and about on the public square. They were mostly shopping and eating ice cream or just enjoying a sunny spring day. There were many beautiful faces and nice figures. Lots of model material.

There are many ancient Roman ruins in Plovdiv. And the old town with cobblestone streets and many historic buildings offers numerous opportunities as a setting for street fashion photography.

With all the potential models and backgrounds, I may plan an extended visit to Plovdiv. It is probably best in the spring or fall. Summer is too hot and the winter has too much snow to work outdoors regularly. Maybe next year.
