Rita is a fashion model that believes in the benefits of exercise and fitness training. She likes to get regular exercise and stay active. She also makes a habit of going to the park for inline skating.
So we went out late in the afternoon on a busy weekend to a public park in Prague near Vystaviste. Public places on weekends can present some problems for photography because of the crowds. There were lots of people out with the kids, walking their dogs, and of course, many other inline skaters.
We got out there at 16.30 in the afternoon, but it turned out to be about two hours too early. The sun was still very high up in the sky casting very harsh shadows. I guess that is why photographers bring strobe lights and reflectors. We walked around (I walked, she skated) trying to find some good spots for photography that were scenic but without the crowds.
This park has three small lakes. The first couple of spots we shot at were kind of ho-hum and the light was very contrasty. But then we found some excellent spots near one of the lakes. The best spot was under some shade trees at the edge of the lake. There was a lovely view of the water in the background. Very idyllic, it looked like an impressionist painting. The second best spot was out in a green field with yellow wildflowers. There is also a water spout in the middle of the lake, but we were not there a time of day to get good shots with the fountain. The only thing that would have improved the locations was if it was a closer to magic hour.
For the photoshoot, Rita wore the outfit you see in the picture: black-nylon capri tights, and an a light blue top. Later Rita switched outfits. She changed into a red tartan dress and we did some shots with red apples by the lake and in the green field. These were all Rita’s ideas so she deserves credit.
