New Search Engine Bing Challenges Google

Redmond, Wash — Microsoft has come out with a new search engine to challenge Google. Microsoft’s new search engine, called Bing, went live on Monday 1st June 2009. According to Microsoft “Bing is a search engine that finds and organizes the answers you need so you can make faster, more informed decisions.” It offers new features like instant preview of websites and videos, automatic categorization of search results and “Best Match” results.

Bing is focusing initially on four areas: making a purchase decision, planning a trip, researching a health condition or finding a local business. When you go to bing.com you will that, like Google, it is a sparse page with only a simple search box.

The big question is this: Is Bing better than Google? Only time will tell. The best thing for internet users would be to try performing searches on both Bing and on Google and see how the results work for you.

Go to bing search page and try searching for something. Even better, BlindSearch does a Pepsi challenge among bing, google and yahoo. You can vote on which was best. Whether or not you are a fan of Microsoft, the added competition for Google has to be a good development for internet users.
