Farmer’s daughters like to dress up, too. And fuschia is a wonderful color to dress up in for summer. This shoulderless country casual dress is perfect for visits to the country where the lush green grass is cool on a hot summer day.

–by Brian Wilson, Farmer’s Daughter, recorded by the Beach Boys (1963)
Farmer’s Daughter is the second cut on the Beach Boys second album Surfin’ U.S.A. It was recorded on January 31, 1963. From Hawthorne, California, the Beach Boys featured brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and family friend Al Jardine. Mike Love sang many of the leads while Brian Wilson sang high falsetto part which is one of the group’s trademark sounds. The Beach Boys mostly sang about surfing, cars and girls.
