In Search of the Endless Summer

I spent the month of September in the American midwest. Overall the weather was very nice. But at the end if the month the weather turned cold and wet. This is a clear sign that winter is on its way, so it seemed like a good time to head for a warmer climate. I heard that in the southern hemisphere the seasons are reversed from the northern hemisphere. July and August are cold and January and February are hot. If you can get to South America around October you arrive just as their warm weather is taking hold. Kind of an “endless summer”.
In fact, there is a famous 1966 surfing documentary titled The Endless Summer. Director Bruce Brown followed two surfers, Mike Hynson and Robert August, as they travel to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti and Hawaii in search of the perfect wave. This is a classic surf movie and is must see for up-and-coming groms and surfers of all ages.
So in search of my endless summer, I flew from Cleveland, Ohio down to Buenos Aries, Argentina by way of Houston, Texas on Continental Airlines. That is a long way from to travel. I left Cleveland at 2:50 in the afternoon and arrived in Buenos Aires about 9:30 the next morning. Continental flies to South America out of Houston, which is their hub. The ticket cost $1162 dollars. Not cheap.
When I arrived in Buenos Aires, the weather was sunny and about 18 degrees Celsius. But since it is now springtime the weather is getting better and better as the summer approaches. Viola! The endless summer.
