One of my colleagues recently wrote about the high cost of renting in Los Angeles. I mentioned that it is possible to live for free in Beverly Hills, the toniest address in America. He asked if I was talking about couch surfing in Beverly Hills. Not exactly, I replied.
Living for Free in Beverly Hills?
No, I am not talking about being homeless or Down and Out in Beverly Hills. It is kind of like Couchsurfing in Beverly Hills but with a twist.
How does this work? Well, there are lots of crusty old bachelors in Beverly Hills and Bel Aire that live by themselves in huge mansions just like the one in the TV show The Beverly Hillbillies complete with a cement pond. These gentlemen are generally quite wealthy and are looking for their own Ellie Mae from smalltown U.S.A. or maybe a young Russian or Ukrainian beauty. The gentlemen with mansions love to host attractive young starlets and models as they pursue their acting and modeling careers in LA. Many of the gentlemen are either former talent agents or Hollywood producers, although their most recent production may have been in 1980. But they still keep their finger in the pie, so to speak.
I’m not privy to the exact arrangements, so I don’t know if the girls have to sing for their supper, whether it is tit for tat or exactly how it works. Qualified candidates may come from one of the well-known bikini pagents, men’s magazine model searches looking for a perfect 10, or by networking through a magazine photographer or model agency. Sometimes even through a classified on craiglist.
