Floralis Generica is the name of this massive aluminum and steel sculpture located in the Plaza Naciones Unitos (United Nations Plaza) in Buenos Aires. It is in Recoleta, right next to the University of Buenos Aires Law School.

The sculpture is 23 meters and weighs a massive 18 tons. There sculpture sits in the center of a reflecting pool and is tilted at an angle. The sculpture is by Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano, a Professor Emeritus at MIT. It was built at a Lockheed aircraft factory.
The remarkable thing about this sculpture is that it opens and closes with the sunlight. Powerful motors move the massive petals which weigh thousand of kilograms each.
Technical Details
The photo was shot at 3:35 pm in the afternoon on 18 October 2009 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was sunny and warm spring day, with just a few wispy clouds.
The camera used was a Nikon D700 full-frame digital SLR with a Nikkor 24-120 f/3.5-5.6 VR zoom lens. Everything was full automatic: Auto ISO, Auto WB, Aperture-priorty Exposure (matrix metering), and single-point Auto-Focus. Exposure details: focal length=35mm, ISO=200, WB=5245, f/8 @ 1/640.
