A school janitor at a high school in San Jose, California was fired for recruiting models for his modeling agency. Custodian Joe Miller, 53, worked at Wilcox High School in San Jose for 20 years. He also runs a modeling agency, Rockabilly Models.

Miller has been recruiting students as models for Rockabilly Models for the past couple of years. According to Miller, Wilcox Principal Tab Taber gave him a green light to use student for his agency more than two years ago. But not everyone thought that students should be recruited while at school. Some of the school’s female employees thought that some of the pictures were “deviant”. Then last June, a the mother of a 16-year-old girl filed a harassment claim against Mr. Miller for trying to recruit her daughter, saying that he made her uncomfortable.
There lesson to be learned here is if you run a side business from your job, there is a good chance you will be fired. Especially if you work in a high school.
