Best Pizza in Buenos Aires: Las Cuartetas

Italian pizza is a popular food in many countries. The wonderful thing about pizza is that it is made differently in every city and country. Each region has its own style of pizza–New York-style pizza, Chicago-style pizza, Moscow-style pizza, etc. Everyone has their favorite regional style–I am partial to New York-style pizza myself. Then within a region like New York City, there are your favorite pizza parlours.
So I like to sample the pizza everywhere I go. Recently I was in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Buenos Aires has some of the best and tastiest pizza you will find anywhere in the world. Argentina is famous for its beef, but also famous for anything moo-related including leather goods, butter and, of course, cheese. There is simply amazing Mozzarella cheese from Argentina.
Here is a funny story about how I found this restaurant. A reader from Buenos Aires alerted met to the place. He said the best pizzeria was a place called Las Cuartetas. I decided to find this place. I looked up the address and it was on Avenida Corrientes, which happens to be the center of the theatre district in Bs. As. By coincidence, my hotel was also on Avenida Corrientes. So I went outside to find it. Well it turned out the Las Cuartetas was right next door to the place I was staying! I had been there about two weeks but never noticed it.

When you first enter Las Cuartetas, you’ll see is a long counter. At lunch time, patrons come in and order pizza by the slice (porcion) and sometimes eat it standing up at counters. At lunch time they replace some of the tables with standing counters for people in a hurry to get back to work.

But the restaurant is very large. As you walk towards the back there are more dining rooms. The place can probably hold a couple of hundred people. They must serve a lot of pizza. I would recommend going to one of the dining rooms and sitting at a table. A waiter will come and take your order.

The menu has many kinds of pizza. In Buenos Aires, they serve a deep-dish pizza here that is very thick. The two simplest pizzas are Mozzarella and Anchovy. I have eaten there numerous times and almost always order the same thing: Chicas Mixta, which is a small pizza with half mozzarella and half anchovy. The price is 20 pesos. If I am with someone, we order a grande pizza. I usually drink Coke. Some people like beer with pizza. You can order that too. A coke is about 6 or 7 pesos. I usually leave about 2 pesos as a tip for the waiter. So the total is about 30 pesos.

When you visit Buenos Aires, plan on visiting Las Cuartetas at least a couple of times. It might be the best pizza you have ever tasted.

Hey, I went to Buenos Aires last year and let me tell you that the Ecological Reserve and the Botanical Garden are some of the most beautiful places. After doing some research to rent apartments buenos aires I found one in Palermo which was near the zoo and also the downtown.
I had a great time!
