USA Hostels San Diego
When you visit San Diego, the best area to stay is the Gaslamp Quarter. Located downtown it is where many of the cities restaurants and entertainment venues are located. It is also within walking distance of many of the main sights including Petco Park, the Embarcadero, Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo.
USA Hostels San Diego is located right in the center of the Gaslamp Quarter, making it a great choice when looking for a bed for your visit to sunny San Diego. The hostel is in an historic old building on 5th Street above two Italian restaurants. This location is ground zero for food and fun in San Diego. The are numerous restaurants and music clubs right downstairs.

Inside the hostel in the common areas have brightly-painted walls. The hostel staff is young, friendly and very helpful. They can give you directions on where to go and how to get there. The staff arranges tours and pub crawls, including a trip to Tijuana, Mexico for only $17 plus your transportation. The atmosphere at the hostel is always upbeat and fun.

USA Hostels San Diego is one of the cleanest hostels I have ever stayed in. Every morning the staff cleans everything from top to bottom. So the common areas, bathrooms, etc are always spotless and shining. Kudos to the cleaning staff!

Every morning in the kitchen from 7AM until 10AM there is a free make-your-own-pancakes breakfast. The kitchen is one of the most well-equipped kitchens I have seen in any hostel. In fact, you probably don’t have a kitchen as good as this in your own home. Everything is stainless steel and commercial quality. Preparing a meal there is like cooking in a restaurant.
To save money, I recommend buying groceries at the nearby Ralphs’s Supermarket and cooking most of your meals there. I bought orange juice, a gallon of milk, a dozen eggs and a pound of bacon and made an awesome pancake breakfast every morning during my week-long stay there. The big breakfast gave me enough energy for a long day of sightseeing around San Diego.
And just to top it off, while I was there over America’s Thanksgiving Day, the staff prepared and served a FREE Thanksgiving dinner for all the guests!

One caveat for the weary traveler: some might consider the hostel a bit of a party hostel. Alcohol is permitted and many of the guests go on the pub crawl. When they get back they can get a wee bit noisy. After 11PM, partying is confined to the Party room, but revelry can spill out into the main hall and you may get be awakened to the sound of happy Australians or Brits singing.
