Oh dear, what can I do?
Baby’s in black and I’m feeling blue,
Tell me, oh what can I do?
–Baby’s In Black, John Lennon & Paul McCartney
One rule of fashion is you can never go wrong with basic black. This black-haired fashion model is wearing black shorts, black hose, long sleeve black top and black high-buckle shoes. Her lips and nails are bright red.
Baby’s in Black was released in 1965 on the album Beatle’s for Sale, which was their fourth album. The lyrics are about Astrid Kirchherr, a friend and photographer the Beatles met during their first trip to Hamburg. She was distraught over the death of her fiancée Stuart Sutcliffe. The song is written as a waltz in 3/4 time.
This music video was recorded at a live performance in Munich in 1966.
Here is Baby’s In Black by The Beatles at Shea Stadium in New York.
The Beatles: BABY’S IN BLACK Lyrics
Oh dear, what can I do?
Baby’s in black and I’m feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?
She thinks of him and so she dresses in black
And though he’ll never come back
She’s dressed in black
Oh dear, what can I do?
Baby’s in black and I’m feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?
I think of her, but she thinks only of him
And though it’s only a whim
She thinks of him
Oh how long will it take
Till she sees the mistake she has made?
Dear what can I do?
Baby’s in black and I’m feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?
Oh how long will it take,
Till she sees the mistake she has made?
Dear what can I do?
Baby’s in black and I’m feeling blue
Tell me, oh what can I do?
She thinks of him and so she dresses in black
And though he’ll never come back
She’s dressed in black
Oh dear, what can I do?
Baby’s in black and I’m feeling blue,
Tell me, oh what can I do?
