Welcome to Hollywood Screen Test! I guess this is my new section since I am the editor of it. Following that introduction with the Marlo Brando screen test is going to be a tough act to follow. I have a lot of “screen test” footage that I will be digging out to post here, but none of it is going to be of people that went on to become legends or even A-list actors. Most of the screen tests feature young starlets that came to Hollywood with stars in their eyes.
What is a Screen Test?
Normally the purpose of a screen test is to show what an actor will look like on camera for a particular role. Sometimes the screen test is just done in street clothes on a bare stage. Often it will be on a full set with makeup and wardrobe.
Back in the golden age of Hollywood, the screen test was a more important milestone in an actor’s career. Shooting a 35mm film screen test on a soundstage on would be expensive since practically full crew of grips and electricians was needed. Today, with digital video cameras so ubiquitous, screen tests are not so common anymore. Most actors that are vying for major roles already appear in small independent films where they can be seen on camera.
Often a screen test will test more than the actor. It can include makeup tests, wardrobe tests, camera tests, lighting tests or anything else. A lot of the footage I have is actual more camera tests. We would just hire an actor for the day to be in the shotsso we have a good-looking subject to shoot.
Sandrella’s Screen Test
So without further adieu, he is the first “Hollywood” screen test. It was actual shot at a small stage near Burbank in the SAn Fernando Valley. But Burbank is where most of Hollywood is anyway these days. (When its not in Vancouver, Toronto or elsewhere!)
I was actually testing out a new camera dolly to see if I could use it without a Dolly Grip. (The Dolly Grip is a the guy that pushes the dolly.) It did not work out. I could not manage to move the dolly and operate the smoothly camera at the same time. I guess that is why they invented the SteadiCam.
The actress is 19-year-old Sandrella, a beautiful girl with a great figure and captivating smile. In this clip, part 1, she is wearing a red top and black miniskirt. Sandrella is a stunningly good-looking girl with long legs and a wonderful smile. The music soundtrack is the song Delilah. I don’t recall the name of the band.
