Lily The Pink

Lily The Pink by The Scaffold from Liverpool, England. This is an English music hall variety number performed on British television. Judging from the hairstyles, it looks like around 1970.

The lyrics are about Lydia Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound, a patent medicine that supposedly cured whatever ailed you. The Lydia E. Pinkham Medicine Co was started by Mrs. Pinkham in Massachusetts in 1875.

Supposedly, one of the singers in The Scaffold is the brother of Beatle Paul McCartney, Michael McCartney (Mike McGear)! The other two guys are Roger McGough John Gorman. They had a bunch of records in the late 1960s. Many of the songs were novelty songs. I found this at PCL LinkDump, which has a lot of odd and funny videos.
