The Hubble Ultra Deep Field in 3D

NASA scientists pointed the Hubble telescope at an empty area of space and made and amazing discovery. The view farthest back in time ever made.

Astronomers used the measured redshift of all 10,000 galaxies in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image to determine the distance of of each galaxy. As a result, every galaxy in the image is in its proper distance as viewed from the telescope line of sight.This video shows an animation that flies through that part of the universe.
