If you were in Cluj-Napoca, Romania on Friday 27th August 2010 you would have had the chance to listen to indietronic band Whale Vs. Elephant. They performed live to a packed house at The Jack near the city center.
Whale vs. Elephant was formed by Tobias Braun who writes most of the music for the group. The music makes heavy use of computers and electronic synthesizers, but also draws on traditional acoustic instruments like the guitar, glockenspiel and harmonium.

Braun is from a small village in southwestern Germany, but now lives in Berlin. But his small town roots are what formed his musical style, which he draws on to create the music of Whale vs Elephant. Braun also lived in Iceland for a while, so his music has Icelandic as well as Germanic indie influences.
Their next gig is at the Xlib Club in Kiev, Ukraine on 3rd September 2010. If you get a chance to see Whale Vs. Elephant, don’t miss it. Visit Whale Vs. Elephant on myspace.com where you can buy their demo CD.
