Our next stop in Germany was Cologne (Koln). Koln is a big city in western Germany. The train from Frankfurt travels along the Rhein River through Mainz and Kobkenz, which is a very scenic route. I didn’t take any pictures, but I plan to get some shots on the way back to Frankfurt.
The Inter-city (IC) train from Frankfurt is only about two hours. I think the round trip ticket from Frankfurt to Cologne cost about 88 Euros. If you pay more (about 130 Euros) you can take the Inter-city Express (ICE) train and it only takes about one hour. We left late in the morning and arrived early afternoon at Koln Hauptbahnhof.

The train comes goes over the Rhein River on the railroad bridge called HohenZollern Brucke.

People put locks on the fence along the pedestrian walkway no the bridge.

Right next to the main train station is the big cathedral called Cologne DOM.

Cologne is on the Rhein River, which is a major shipping lane.

We’ll probably hang out in Cologne for about a week or so.
