Sarajevo is a city in a valley, surrounded by mountains. The 1984 Winter Olympics were held in Sarajevo when Bosnia was part of Yugoslavia. But then, after the end of communism, there was the Bosnian War in the 1990s, when the city suffered from shelling and snipers.

Today Sarajevo is a lively and bustling city, full of shoppers and tourists.

Sarajevo is a predominantly Muslim city in Bosnia. There are numerous mosques. Some woman in Sarajevo cover the heads, but I think that is mostly tourists from the middle east. Most Bosnia woman I saw wore daisy dukes and miniskirts.

We also found plenty of places to eat in Sarajevo.

We didn’t book a room in advance in Sarajevo, but found a hostel that had a vacancy. The hostel was in a beautiful old luxury apartment in the center. The only drawback was that that there was a club across the street that played loud music all night until 6 AM every morning.

Here’s a picture of the club from our window during the day. See how close it is! In the evening they had football on television. But then, about midnight, the music starts and it is nonstop until breakfast the next day.

Next time, I will book ahead in advance and try to find a quieter place.
