The War Museum (Vojni Muzej) in Belgrade, which is inside the Kalamegdan Fortess, is a great place for history buffs to learn about the many wars that were fought in the Balkans.
Outside of the museum are all kinds of artillery, tanks and vehicles from World War I and World War II. They have examples of war machines from Germany, Italy and the United States.
Inside, the museum traces the history of wars in the Balkan region going back to before Roman times, wars against the Otterman empire, all the way up to the Balkan War in the 1990s and the Nato bombing of Belgrade during the Kosovo war in 1999. They have parts of an American F-16 fighter that was shot down, along with the flight suit and other gear of the American pilot.
