Boston–Deadly bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street. Three people were killed and over 140 were injured by shrapnel and debris from the explosion. Many of the injured were spectators at the event, which is held every year on Patriot’s Day.

Two bombs were detonated approximately 14 seconds apart at about 2:50pm in the afternoon, which was 4 hours 9 minutes (4:09) after the start of the Boston Marathon. At least two other unexploded devices were found that were disabled by law enforcement. The bombs were built as anti-personal devices designed to inflict maximum level of casualties.

Update 4/16/2013: No additional explosive devices were found in the area during the FBI’s sweep, refuting reports that as many as five were found and deactivated.

At this time, there are no suspects or motives behind this terrorist attack on innocent civilians.

Here is a google map of the location of the bombing.
