Yellow Submarine was a song, an album and an animated movie. The song was released in 1966. The movie was released in 1968.

First youtube is the Beatle’s song Yellow Submarine. Beatle’s drummer Ringo Star has the lead vocals on this. Paul McCartney wrote the song specifically for Ringo because he was always good with children. (Yes, it is really a children’s song.)

After the jump, the theatrical trailer from the film Yellow Submarine. During this period, “Swinging London” was awash in marijuana, LSD and other mind-altering drugs. The influence of psychodelic drugs on the characters, the story and the imagery in Yellow Submarine is quite evident. Some parents woudn’t let their children go see the movie fearing they would want to get turned on. Actually many of them did experiment with drugs because of the Beatle’s influence.
